Main Directions of Scientific Investigations

The hierarchical approach to simulating nanomaterials and nanosystems based on incorpora­tion of the quantum-mechanical, molecular-dynamic and continual models. Theoretical investigation and computer simulating in various domains of the theory of systems, mechanics, physics, comput­er-based materials technology, socio-dynamics: quantum-mechanical and molecular-dynamic simula­tion of the atomic-molecular systems in packets NWChem, NAMD, VASP on the supercomputers; com­puter-based research of the hybridous nanobiosystems; simulation of nanoelectromechanical systems in terms of massifs of the carboniferous nanotubule in the radiofrequency and microwave diapason; computer-based simulation of the mechanics of the solid body under deformation processes based on the packets ANSYS, LS-DYNA, COMSOL; simulation of the geomechanical processes; etc.

Major Achievements

RL DSMM maintains scientific ties with the University of Vilnius, the National Cancer Institute of Lithu­ania, the University of Bialystok (Poland), the Heidelberg University (Germany), the Technological Center MIET in Zelenograd (Russia), OIPI NASB, BGUIR, GNPTs on the Materials Science NASB, NIIYaP BSU, VGMU, RNPTs of Oncology and Medical Radiology n. a. Alexanrov, BSU.

The staff of RL DSMM performed work on project LLB 2-242 "Quality Improvement of the Medical Ser­vice by Means of Employment of the Information Processing Technologies for the Skin and Lung Cancer Diagnosis". The programs of cross-border cooperation Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus, the European framework program project FP7 "Balticgrid-II", the Union state programs "Triad", "SKIF-GRID", "Nanotech-SG" etc.

A g-lite-standard grid-segment developed on the basis of the computing power of RL DSMM for na­nomaterials and nanosystems simulations; an information management system developed for computer diagnosis of skin cancer with dermatologic imagery; an atomic-molecular approach developed to as­certainment of mechanical characteristics of the carcass carbonic nanostructures in terms of analytical estimation evaluation of the potential-energy structure first and second differentials as function of the constituent atoms coordinates.

Molecular dynamics investigated of a carbon nanotubes massif in a poly-m-phenyl-vinyl membrane in the electrical field at room temperature, a quasi-periodical movement discovered of the tubes inciden­tal to resonance oscillation excitation of the massif.

RL DSMM disposes a modern material and technical basis. For conducting researches a supercomput­er cluster of 72 nucleuses is employed. On the cluster, there located a grid-server, a possibility exists of linkup with the supercomputing resources of JIPI of NAS of Belarus.
