Main Directions of Scientific Investigations

Theory and practice of hardening and restoration of fast-deteriorating parts of the machines em­ploying highly-concentrated sources of energy: gas-flame, plasma, laser-based, micro-plasma and com­bined on their basis; theory and practice of forming coatings with different functional properties on base of powder materials by use of highly-concentrated sources of energy; development and improvement of laser processes: surface quenching, alloying, cladding, drilling, cutting; vibrodiagnostic and vibropro­tection of machines and equipment.


Provided Services

Engineering services on determination of optimal methods for strengthening and restoration of ma­chine parts; development and introduction of complete technological processes and equipment for strengthening/restoration of parts by means of plasma, gas-flame deposition, laser treatment (quench­ing, alloying, cladding, cutting, welding); manufacturing of pilot sets of parts with the use of methods mentioned above; vibrodiagnostic of machines and equipment, development of vibroprotection systems.


Major Achievements

RIL PLT has fruitful collaboration with Sankt-Petersburg Technical University (Russia), Institute of Elec­tric Welding n.a. E.O. Paton (Ukraine), Kaunas Energetic Institute, Vilnius University (Lithuania), Daugavpils University (Latvia), Zeliona Gura Technical University (Poland), Physical-Technical Institute, Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of NAS of Belarus etc.

Developments made in RIL PLT are introduced in more than 70 from Belarus and abroad e.g.: JSC "MTZ", JSC "BELAZ", JSC "Liftmash", JSC "Novopolotsk ORP". In particular, it has been developed and in­troduces the technology and equipment for laser hardening of big-sized steel parts for heavy duty lorries "BELAZ" and laser thermal hardening of cast iron and steel parts for tractors "Belarus".

It has been developed and introduced the technology for restoration of worn-out heavy-duty parts of paper manufacturing at JSC "Alberitin".

Student Research Bureau "Machine-builder" is functioning on the base of RIL PLT.

The laboratory owns modern research and technological equipment; in particular: friction machines of various types, metallographic microscopes, sets for plasma and gas-flame spraying, lasers of continu­ous mode.
