Technology and equipment for electrolyte-plasma polishing and surface modification of medical instruments

Application: cleaning, polishing, increase of electrochemical uniformity, increase of corrosion resist­ance of the medical instruments surface; the formation of a surface with a porous structure with pore sizes of 0.5–2 μm for germination bone tissue, as well as for keeping medicines.

Advantages: high ecological safety in comparison with classical electrochemical polishing through the use of electrolytes based on water solutions of salts with a total concentration of not more than 5 %; increase of corrosion resistance of the surface; the ability to process parts and products of any complex configuration; possibility to get a mirror surface with height roughness up to Ra = 0.01 μm; the elimi­nation during the process of processing of non-conforming surface layer and residual stresses, that im­proves the physical-mechanical and chemical properties of the surface; relatively short duration of the polishing process; possibility of processing of hard and ductile materials.

Key features: voltage – 300 V; current density – 0.1–0.15 А/sm2; electrolyte temperature – 80–90 °С; duration of treatment – 3–5 min; electrolytes – aqueous solutions of salts with a concentration of 3–6 %.
