Damping magnetic fluid device

Application: dampening of free and forced oscillations under conditions of impossibility of support on external objects – at oscillations of string structures (aerials), spatial plane-type structures under condi­tions of weightlessness (panels of solar batteries, mirrors of large telescopes).

Advantages: high efficiency at low frequencies (about 1 Hz) and small (about 1 mm) amplitudes; sim­plicity and reliability of design; easiness in regulation and adaptivity.

Key features: dimensions: diameter – 60 mm, height – 30 mm; weight – 0.14 kg; regulated range of operating frequencies – 0.3–15 Hz; oscillation amplitudes – 0.5–15 mm; logarithmic damping decrement (with damper – object weight ratio) 1:40 – 0.15; operational temperature range –50 … +100 ºС; operation­al range of environmental pressure – (0–2×105) Pа.
