The Faculty was founded in 1920 with the establishment of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute (BPI). In that year training of engineers in hydraulic construction began at the of Hydraulic Engineering, Irrigation and Drainage Department and at the Hydraulics Department .
In 1933 the Faculty was reorganized into the Peat Meliorative Faculty and started training specialists in "Heating and Ventilation" and "Water Supply and Sewerage". The founder and the first Dean of the Faculty was M.V. Doroshevich. Later he was appointed as the Rector of the BPI and became the Minister of Higher and Specialized Secondary Education of the BSSR.
The Power Plant Construction and Engineering Services Faculty was organized on October 1, 1986. The Faculty combined specialities and specializations in construction and operation of hydropower plants. Such specialities as "Economics and Production Management", "Shipbuilding and Domestic Water Transport Maintenance", "Heat and Nuclear Power Plant Construction" were introduced later.
The Dean of the Faculty is Pyotr M. Bogoslavchik, Associate professor, PhD in Engineering.
The number of students admitted annually is 300 (full-time education) and 120 (correspondence education).
There are 100 lecturers on the staff, among them 1 Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, 13 Doctors of Science(DSc) and 40 Candidates od Science (PhD).
