MECHANICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL

General

The Faculty was founded in 1958 by division of the Mechanical Faculty into the Mechanics and Technology Faculty (MTF) and the Mechanical Engineering Faculty. Great contribution into the foundation and development of the Faculty was made by the Deans: A.M. Dmitrovich (1958-1964), V.S. Pashchenko (1964-1976), B.V. Babushkin (1976-1985), V.M. Korolev (1985-2003), N.I. Ivanitskiy (2003-2013). The achievements of the Faculty are closely connected with the founders of higher engineering education: academicians - V.P. Severdenko, O.V. Roman, A.V. Stepanenko, P.A. Vitiaz and professors - V.I. Beliaev, Y.I. Belskiy, L.S. Liakhovich, D.N. Khudokormov, L.G. Voroshnin and others. Since 2013 the Faculty has been headed by Ihar A. Ivanou, Professor, PhD in Engineering.

Training of students is carried out according to new curricula, corresponding to international standards in engineering education. The Faculty admits students in 6 specialities and 5 specializations to provide engineering graduates for metallurgical industry, mechanical engineering and instrumentation engineering of the Republic of Belarus.

At present the Faculty consists of 8 departments and 6 branches (Physical and Technical Institute of the National Academy of Science of Belarus, Belniilit, Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ), Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ), Baranivichi Machine-Tool Plant, the enterprises of BELCVETMET); 10 scientific-research laboratories, 2 scientific-research laboratories for students. Scientific and Technological Park "Politechnic" has been established on the base of the Educational Scientific and Production Centre "Metolit". Teaching is carried out by more than 90 members of academic staff, including 2 Academicians of the National Academy of Science of Belarus, 20 Professors and 50 Associate Professors (PhD in Engineering).
