The Department "Higher Mathematics No.1" was founded in December 1920, which makes it one of the oldest BNTU Departments with almost a century-long history. With the liberation of Minsk in 1944, the BPI resumed its activities. Back then the staff of the Department comprised 4 lecturers and 1 Associate Professor.
1944-1949 - the Department was headed by Vasily L. Levkovich, Associate Professor, PhD in Physics and Mathematics.
1949-1975 - Natalia V. Popova, Associate Professor, PhD in Physics and Mathematics headed the Department in. In 1949 the staff of the Department numbered 11lectures; three of them had PhD degree and the academic titles of associate professor.
1975 - 1998, 1999 -2010 - the Department of Higher Mathematics for Engineering was led by Nikolai A. Mikulik, Professor, Doctor of Science (Engineering).
1998 - 1999 - the Department was headed by Anatoly V. Metelsky, Professor, Doctor of Science (Physics and Mathematics). Since May 2010, the Department has been led headed by Irina N. Katkovskaya, Associate Professor, PhD in Physics and Mathematics.
Currently, the Department employs 19 lecturers: 3 Professors (PhD), 12 Associate Professors (PhD), and 4 Senior Lecturers.
