Department of Architectural Environment Design was established in accordance with the order №44-P dated 07.05.2002 in order to prepare highly qualified professionals in the specialty 1-69 01 01- "Architecture", specializations "Urban Design" and "Interior Architecture".
The main concept of training in architectural design is based on the development of the traditions of the Belarusian architectural school. It is the theory comprising the elements of artistic, compositional, scientific, and technical education. The second concept of training in architectural design is the need to educate the architect and designer in two closely related areas: theoretical and practical.
The core of the training of architects and designers is a constant project work in the discipline "Architectural Design," which begins in the 1st semester of the 1st year and ends with the implementation of the graduation project.
Since 2006, the department has been training full-time students in the specialty 1-69 01 02 "Architectural Design". In 2011, the Department held the first graduation ceremony for 25 architects and designers.
In 2003, the Department started to offer master's and PhD programs in architecture. Now the Department runs 2 master's programs.
The Department is purposefully working to expand the creative links with architectural and art schools around the world. The Department cooperates with Bialystok University of Technology (Poland), the Department of Architectural Environment Design of Moscow Architectural Institute (Russia), Rostov State Academy of Architecture and Art (Russia), Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering, Ural State University of Architecture and Art (Yekaterinburg, Russia), Far Eastern State Technical University (Vladivostok, Russia), and several other higher education institutions.
The main objective of the Department consists in providing quality education, conducting research in the field of architecture and design, and promoting best practices in research activities and their applications.
